Women’s Soccer Victorious Over Lehman on Tuesday Afternoon

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team was victorious on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers defeated the Lightning of Lehman College, 2-1. 
 
The Panthers improve to 4-1 overall on the season and hold a conference record of 1-0. 
 
Old Westbury found the back of the net first to take an early 1-0 lead. The Panthers opening goal came from first-year Skylar Catrambone. 
 
The Panthers did a nice job keeping the ball in the offensive zone and went into halftime with a 1-0 lead. 
 
Coming out of the break, Lehman scored just about 90-seconds into the half to tie the game at 1-1. 
 
The two sides went back and forth for a bulk of the second half. It was a nice goal from Briana Sayoc that broke the tie and gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead at the 64:11 mark. 
 
Old Westbury protected their lead for the remainder of the game and would come out with the win, 2-1. 

Briana Sayoc and Skylar Catrambone each finished with a goal for the Panthers. As a team, Old Westbury took a total of 41 shots with 21 of them being on-target. The Panthers faced just seven shots (four on-target).
 
In goal, Kristen Gallagher, the reigning defensive player of the week, recorded three saves. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to Skyline Conference play. The Panthers will play host to Mount Saint Mary on Saturday, September 20. The opening kick is set for 12 PM.
