Women’s Volleyball Falls to Ramapo and John Jay on Saturday

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The SUNY Old Westbury women's volleyball team was swept by Ramapo College and John Jay College at a tri-match hosted by John Jay on Saturday. The final scores were 3-0 in favor of both the Roadrunners and the Bloodhounds. 
 
The Panthers now drop to 1-3 on the season. 
 
Match One- SUNY Old Westbury (0) – Ramapo (3) 
 
Throughout the match, the Panthers struggled against the Ramapo attack. Old Westbury would see just 15 kills over three sets with 14 errors while the Roadrunners recorded 40 kills and 15 errors. 
 
Nicole Zugnoni led the way for Old Westbury as she recorded five kills. Stephanie Velez finished with four aces and seven digs. Shaiyah McAllister had a strong match as she finished with two aces and two blocks. 
 
Match Two- SUNY Old Westbury (0) – John Jay (3)
 
In the Panthers second match of the day, the team saw 15 kills, and 15 errors compared to the John Jay attack of 36 kills and 12 errors. Old Westbury would make a total of 55 attacks over the course of the three sets.
 
For Old Westbury, Stephanie Maser led the team in kills with nine. She also had two aces. Stephanie Velez saw two kills, two aces and three digs. Kasey Coppola finished the match with two kills and one block. Katia Gomez recorded seven assists. 
 
Next up, the Panthers will return to non-conference play on the road. The Panthers will travel to take on Lehman College on Friday, September 26. That match is set for 6 PM.
