The SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball team fell to the Macabees of Yeshiva University, 72-58, from the Clark Athletic Center. The loss puts the Panthers at 4-13 on the season and 2-5 in Skyline Conference play while Yeshiva improves to 9-8 (8-0 Skyline).
Joel led all scorers with 22 points, adding 11 rebounds for a double-double to go with a team-high three blocks and two steals.
Josh Minton followed with 11 points, going 3-for-3 from long distance.
Imole Akinwale had seven rebounds and four assists while
Yigit Balta added six to go with three assists.
Jermaine King Jr.'s eight helpers paced the Panthers, adding nine points.Â
The score would be tied four times over the opening 14 minutes, including 22-22 with 6:47 left in the opening half. The teams would briefly exhange leads before a 14-0 run put the Macabees ahead, 38-25. Ofori's layup in the final 30 seconds would make it an 11 point game headed into the halftime break.
The Panthers would work the score within eight, 44-36, following five points from Minton, but that woudl be as close as they would come.Â
Old Westbury will be back in action on Saturday, January 24 on the road at Sarah Lawrence College from Bronxville, NY.
