The SUNY women's basketball team fell to the Panthers of Purchase College, 66-42, this afternoon from the Clark Athletic Center. The loss sets the OW Panthers at 2-12 on the season and 1-11 in Skyline Conference action while Purchase improves to 8-9 (7-5 Skyline).
Endya Greene accounted for 24 of Old Westbury's 42 points and added six rebounds, five steals, two assists, and a block.
Aissata Kone added nine points and led with six steals.
Korrina Plair led with 14 rebounds and added two blocks.Â
Old Westbury struggled in the first half, shooting under 15 percent in both the first and second quarters and trailed 26-10 at the break. The home Panthers won the scoreboard in the third quarter, coming within seven, 33-26. Purchase would score five quick points in teh final seconds before a foul shot from
Sakhmet Lewis made it 38-27 headed into the final 10 minutes. Old Westbury would be unable to come within 10 in the final frame.Â
The Panthers return to the court on Wednesday, January 28 at Mount Saint Mary at 6:00 pm from Newburgh.Â
