Last Second Three-Pointer Lifts Men's Basketball Over Manhattanville

The SUNY Old Westbury Panthers won their third Skyline Conference contest on the back of a thrilling three-pointer from Jermaine King Jr. in the final second of this evening's game against Manhattanville. The win, 66-65, sets Old Westbury at 5-14 on the season and 3-6 in Skyline play while Manhattanville falls to 9-10 (4-5 Skyline).

The Valiants ended the first half on a  17-0 run to lead by 10, 41-31, at the break. Old Westbury would spend the first eight minutes of the half working the score back to a one-possession game, 46-43, aided by a five-point run that saw field goals from Imole Akinwale and Latimer Taylor Jr.

With Manhattanville back to a seven-point lead headed into the final 10 minutes, free throws from King and field goals from Christian Thomas and Ahmad Sackor tied the game at 52. Six points from Isiah Middleton helped the visitors regain a five point lead, 63-58, headed into the final 1:45. A layup from Akinwale and three-pointer from Taylor tied the game once again at 63. A Manhattanville layup with five seconds on the clock had the Valiants set up for the victory, but King sprinted up the court and pulled up for a final-second game-winning three-pointer to take the victory.

King led with 18 points and added three assists. Thomas followed with 16 points and had seven rebounds and two steals. Akinwale rounded out the top scorers with 11 points.

Joel Ofori had a team-leading 13 rebounds and four assists. Yigit Balta followed with three assists and six rebounds. Taylor and Sackor each had two blocks.
