The SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball team fell to the University of Mount Saint Vincent this evening, 68-53, from the Peter Jay Sharp Center in the Bronx. The loss sets Old Westbury at 2-15 on the season and 1-14 in Skyline Conference play. UMSV improved to 5-14 (3-11 Skyline).

Thalia Fowler.Â
The teams remained neck-and-neck after four minutes of play, but the Dolphins broke out an 8-2 run to end the quarter ahead, 17-9. A three-pointer from
Kayla Chappelle and layup from
Korrina Plair brought Old Westbury within five early in the second quarter, but the home team quickly regained a double digit lead. Five-straight points from Greene would bring the Panthers within four, 30-26, but that was as close as they would come in the opening half.Â
UMSV would lead by double digits for most of the remainder of the contest. Trailing by 12 with just over five minutes to play, the Panthers came back to life with an eight-point run to come back within four, 55-51, with 4:22 left on the clock. The Dolphins responded by scoring the next six points that would ultimately sink Old Westbury's attempt at a comeback.
The Panthers return to play on Sunday, February 8, against Yeshiva at 12:00 pm from the Clark Athletic Center.
