Women’s Lacrosse Falls to SUNY Morrisville on the Road

Runyan records five ground balls while Gonzalez makes 10 saves in defensive effort

Morrisville, NY – Coming off back-to-back losses, the SUNY Old Westbury Women's Lacrosse team continued its four-game road trip Saturday afternoon traveling to Morrisville, NY to take on SUNY Morrisville in non-conference action. The Panthers were shut out by the Mustangs, falling 20–0.

Old Westbury's offense was limited to just five total shots on the afternoon, with two shots on goal. Katia Maisonneuve and Katherine Campbell each recorded a shot on goal as the Panthers worked to generate offensive opportunities against the Mustangs defense.

SUNY Morrisville finished the game with 44 total shots, putting consistent pressure on the Panthers defense and Senior goal keeper Jara Gonzalez, who recorded 10 saves while facing heavy offensive pressure throughout the contest.

Turnovers proved to be a major factor for the Panthers, as Old Westbury committed 35 turnovers, limiting their ability to sustain offensive possessions and create quality scoring opportunities.

The Panthers also struggled in transition, finishing 8-for-33 on clear attempts, while the Mustangs were perfect on clears going 11-for-11.

SUNY Morrisville held the edge in ground balls 42–24, though Old Westbury managed to keep things even in the fourth quarter with three ground balls each during the final period of play.

Despite the outcome, several Panthers delivered strong individual efforts throughout the contest. Annabelle Runyan led Old Westbury with five ground balls while also forcing three caused turnovers to help disrupt the Mustangs attack.

Ashley Maniscalco added four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control, while Jasmine Roldan contributed three ground balls in the defensive effort.
