Feerick, DeRose lead Panthers to doubleheader sweep of St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

Aliya Feerick paced the offense while Olivia DeRose and Hailey Ragozine powered Old Westbury to 7-0 and 8-2 victories

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury softball team delivered a complete performance on Monday evening, sweeping St. Joseph's University Long Island in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Panthers took game one, 7-0, before securing an 8-2 victory in game two.

With the sweep, Old Westbury continued its strong stretch, using timely hitting and consistent pitching to control both games.

GAME 1 OLD WESTBURY: 7   ST JOES LI: 0
Old Westbury set the tone early, scoring in each of the first two innings before breaking the game open with a five-run third inning.

Arianna Valle opened the scoring with an RBI groundout in the first inning, followed by an RBI single from Aliya Feerick in the second. The Panthers then exploded in the third inning, with RBI contributions from Yelina Arias, Katie Knecht, Amanda Varela, Madison Muehling, and Jessica Feerick to extend the lead to 7-0.

Olivia DeRose was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out 11 batters.

At the plate, Old Westbury totaled 15 hits, led by Aliya Feerick's three-hit performance. Jessica Feerick and Amanda Varela added multiple hits, while the Panthers saw production throughout the lineup.

GAME 2 OLD WESTBURY: 8  ST JOES LI: 2
Old Westbury carried that momentum into game two, jumping out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning and adding two more in the second.

Ashley Pierce delivered an RBI double to get things started, while Arianna Valle and Yelina Arias followed with RBI efforts to build an early advantage. The Panthers continued to apply pressure, adding runs in the fifth and seventh innings to secure the 8-2 victory.

Hailey Ragozine earned the win in the circle, helping limit St. Joseph's to just two runs despite 10 hits.

Offensively, Old Westbury recorded 10 hits, with Aliya Feerick, Jessica Feerick, Ashley Pierce, and Katie Knecht all contributing multi-hit performances. Arias and Valle each drove in runs, while Camila Uribe added an RBI to round out the scoring.
