Kunen leads Panthers past Purchase in regular-season finale

Panthers close 2026 season with 8-7 road win at Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse team closed out its 2026 regular season on a high note Tuesday evening, earning an 8-7 road victory over Purchase College in Skyline Conference action.

With the win, the Panthers capped the season with a gritty road performance, using timely scoring and strong defensive play to hold off a late Purchase push.

Old Westbury got off to a strong start and built a 4-2 halftime lead behind balanced scoring and possession control. The Panthers continued to produce offensively in the second half, adding two goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth to secure the one-goal win.

Ciana Kunen led the Panthers offensively with a dominant six-point performance, scoring five goals and adding one assist. Sydney Kim, Ashley Maniscalco, and Katherine Campbell each added a goal to round out the scoring.

Defensively, Old Westbury made its presence felt all over the field. Katia Maisonneuve turned in a standout all-around effort with one assist, eight ground balls, four caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Ashley Maniscalco added seven ground balls and a goal, while Emely Galvez contributed five ground balls.

The Panthers also received strong contributions from Stephanie Velez, who totaled two caused turnovers and three draw controls, while Katherine Campbell added three ground balls and one draw control. Jara Gonzalez chipped in with four ground balls defensively while also having 7 saves on the afternoon.

As a team, Old Westbury finished with 35 ground balls, 13 draw controls, and eight caused turnovers, helping the Panthers control key possessions throughout the game.
