Ragozine, Pierce lead Panthers to Game 2 shutout in split with Farmingdale State

Ragozine holds Rams to one hit while Pierce drives in five as Old Westbury earns Skyline split

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury softball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Farmingdale State College on Monday evening at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. The Panthers dropped Game 1, 3-0, before responding with an 8-0 shutout victory in Game 2.

GAME 1: Farmingdale State 3, Old Westbury 0
Old Westbury was held off the scoreboard in the opener despite collecting six hits.

Ashley Pierce led the Panthers at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance, while Jessica Feerick, Katie Knecht, Amanda Varela, and Madison Muehling each added a hit.

Farmingdale State pushed across three runs late and held off Old Westbury to take the opening game.

GAME 2: Old Westbury 8, Farmingdale State 0
Old Westbury responded quickly in Game 2, scoring three runs in the first inning to take control early.

Yelina Arias opened the scoring with a two-RBI single, and Camila Uribe later reached on a fielder's choice to bring in another run.

The Panthers broke the game open in the fourth inning. Madison Muehling singled home a run before Ashley Pierce delivered the biggest swing of the game, launching a home run to left field that drove in four runs and extended the lead to 8-0.

Aliya Feerick finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Pierce went 2-for-3 with five RBIs. Arias added two hits and two RBIs, and Muehling added a hit and an RBI.

In the circle, Hailey Ragozine delivered a dominant performance, tossing a complete-game one-hit shutout to earn the win.

WHAT OLD WESTBURY DID WELL
The Panthers executed early offensively, scoring three runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth.

Ragozine controlled the game in the circle, while Pierce powered the offense with a five-RBI performance.
