OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, sweeping a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Yeshiva University at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. The Panthers rolled to a 16-2 victory in Game 1 before completing the sweep with a 12-2 win in Game 2.
GAME 1: Old Westbury 16, Yeshiva 2
Old Westbury wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four runs in the first inning before erupting for eight runs in the second to take full control.
Brandon Hernandez powered the offense with a huge performance, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Mike Tiseo added two hits and two RBIs, while JT Torres finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Panthers' lineup produced up and down the order, totaling 15 hits while capitalizing on defensive miscues to extend their lead.
On the mound, Dennis Lynch earned the win (2-1), helping limit Yeshiva's offense and secure the opening game victory.
GAME 2: Old Westbury 12, Yeshiva 2
Old Westbury carried its momentum into Game 2, responding quickly after an early deficit and taking control with consistent offensive pressure.
Donny Whalen led the way with a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored, including a two-run home run in the first inning.
JT Torres set the tone at the top of the lineup, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while AJ Giel added an RBI and scored three times. Mike Tiseo contributed a hit, RBI, and two runs, and Mike Petrucelly crossed the plate twice.
The Panthers continued to manufacture runs throughout the game, taking advantage of errors, walks, and timely hitting to pull away late.
