Panthers extend win streak to five with sweep of St. Joseph’s Brooklyn

Panthers shut out Bears in Game 1 before launching five home runs in Game 2 victory

YAPHANK, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team extended its win streak to five games on Friday afternoon, sweeping a Skyline Conference doubleheader against St. Joseph's University Brooklyn at Lasorda legacy. The Panthers opened with a 4-0 shutout victory before completing the sweep with a 13-3 win in Game 2.

GAME 1: Old Westbury 4, St. Joseph's Brooklyn 0

Old Westbury set the tone early and relied on dominant pitching to secure the shutout victory in the opener.

Mike Tiseo got the Panthers on the board in the first inning with an RBI groundout, while James Reilly added to the lead in the third with an RBI single that plated two runs.

The Panthers added an insurance run in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a defensive miscue to extend the lead to 4-0.

On the mound, Vinny Giambona delivered a standout performance, earning the win after limiting St. Joseph's to just two hits while keeping the Bears off the scoreboard.

GAME 2: Old Westbury 13, St. Joseph's Brooklyn 3

Old Westbury's offense exploded in Game 2, using power and consistent production throughout the lineup to complete the sweep.

JJ Palumbo and Mike Tiseo each homered in the first inning to give the Panthers an early advantage. The offense continued to build from there, adding runs in seven different innings.

Dean Pasolini led the way with a strong performance, going 3-for-6 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Mike Petrucelly added two hits, including a home run, while driving in two runs and scoring twice. Sean Maddi also homered and drove in two runs, while Nick Miller contributed a multi-hit performance with two RBIs.

Old Westbury finished with 14 hits and five home runs, breaking the game open and maintaining control throughout.

On the mound, Justin Aramini earned the win, helping limit St. Joseph's to three runs and securing the doubleheader sweep.

WHAT OLD WESTBURY DID WELL?

  • The offense remained consistent, producing 17 runs and 22 hits while scoring in multiple innings in both games.
  • Power was on full display in Game 2, as the Panthers launched five home runs to break the game open.
