OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Lehman College Tuesday afternoon at South Field, improving to 1-0-1 on the season.
The Panthers opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Adriana Leon found the back of the net at 12:55 with Camryn Volpe assist to give Old Westbury a 1-0 advantage. The Panthers continued to pressure the Lehman defense throughout the opening half, taking nine shots and holding the Lightning to just one.
Old Westbury carried its momentum into the second half and doubled its lead in the 51st minute. Jamie Garcia Sorto scored at 50:51 off an assist from Mikayla D'Ambrosio, putting the Panthers ahead 2-0.
The Panthers continued to create opportunities throughout the second half before adding their third and final goal in the 80th minute. Zamira Yamileth Mena Sequeira scored at 79:57 to cap the scoring and give Old Westbury a 3-0 lead.
Defensively, goalkeeper Kristen Gallagher played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves to earn the shutout.
The Panthers host Purchase College on Saturday September 19 at 12PM.
