NEW YORK, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team fell to John Jay College, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at Randall's Island.
The Panthers and Bloodhounds played to a scoreless draw through the opening 45 minutes. Old Westbury recorded 10 shots in the first half, including four from Alexander Joergensen, while Paul DeGennaro made two saves to keep John Jay off the scoreboard.
John Jay broke through in the 71st minute when Ian Hartigan scored off an assist from Miguel Espinal to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead. Josh Clemas added an insurance goal in the 81st minute, assisted by Greg Semsarian, to make it 2-0.
Joergensen led the Panthers with five shots and two shots on goal, while Isaac Cardenas recorded three shots and two shots on goal. DeGennaro finished with 11 saves in goal for Old Westbury.
The Panthers take on Purchase College Saturday September 19 at 2:30 pm at the Panther Park.
