OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer team rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat Purchase College, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Panther Park.
Purchase jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening 20 minutes. Jacob Pence scored just 1:20 into the contest before Parker Lewis doubled the lead in the 20th minute, with Pence earning the assist.
The Panthers answered before halftime when Johan Gran found the back of the net in the 36th minute off a pass from Stephen Quintanilla, cutting the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.
Old Westbury continued its comeback in the second half. Gran scored his second goal of the afternoon at 48:33 to bring the Panthers level at 2-2.
With the match tied late, Old Westbury completed the comeback in the 77th minute. Alexander Joergensen scored the game-winning goal off an assist from Gran, giving the Panthers their first lead of the afternoon.
Old Westbury's defense held Purchase scoreless over the final 14 minutes to secure the 3-2 victory.
The Panthers are on the road against Manhattanville on Wednesday September 23 at 4PM.
