Michael Cardino enters his second season as SUNY Old Westbury assistant baseball coach in 2019.  He arrived at Old Westbury ahead of the 2018 campaign after spending two seasons (2016-17) serving as assistant varsity baseball coach at Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, New York.

Prior to being elevated to the varsity program, Cardino led Holy Trinity High School to the Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) junior varsity championship during his lone season as head coach in 2015.  Cardino held the position of head coach for the Titans’ freshman team from 2008-2013.  Since his arrival at Holy Trinity in 2008, Cardino helped the program double its wins total at the freshman level each year.  In 2012, he guided the freshman team to a 17-5 record to advance the Titans to the CHSAA Championship game.

From 2004-11, Cardino was the head baseball coach and director of baseball operations for the Long Island Braves.  Cardino was recognized for his hard work and dedication by the Boys of Summer Travel Baseball League Board of Directors at Citi Field, where he received the 2012 Spirit Service Award from the New York Mets and Long Island Boys of Summer Baseball League.

Residing in Massapequa, New York, Cardino and his wife, Jennifer, have two children, Mike and Kristin.  Mike played third base for Old Westbury from 2014-17, where he was a contributing member of the 2015 Skyline Conference Championship team.  During his junior year, he was named third-team ABCA All-New York Region and first-team All-Skyline Conference.
