Box Score THROGGS NECK, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team fell behind by 18 in the second half and battled back within two in the closing minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers lost 83-68 on Thursday night at Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. The loss snapped Old Westbury's six-game winning streak, moving the Panthers to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in Skyline Conference action. The win moved Maritime to 8-0 at home, 9-4 overall and 7-3 in league play.
In the first half Maritime bounded out to a 16-11 lead at 10:19 due in part to 10 points from junior Shamir Williams (Brooklyn, NY). Junior
Jason Kondra (East Syracuse, NY) capped off a 12-3 run to put Old Westbury in front by four (23-19) with 6:40 remaining in the half. Maritime countered with a 17-4 offensive spurt head into the half with a 36-27 lead.
Junior Justin Bright (Brooklyn, NY) scored five of Maritime's first seven points as part of a 7-0 run to open the second half, taking a 16 point advantage with 18:16 remaining. Junior Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, NY) made a layup with 15:06 to stretch Maritime's largest lead to 18 (49-31). Old Westbury closed within nine as senior

Patrick Bonna (Brooklyn, NY) for a jumper to cut the deficit to 64-55 with 4:54 on the clock. DeNully capped off a 13-6 run after knocking down a pair of free throws with 22 seconds left to cut the margin down, 70-68. Senior Andre Cooper (Baltimore, MD) hit both free throws and senior Adedokun Olanrewaju (Brooklyn, NY) hit 1-of-2 from the line to put the game out of reach with five seconds remaining in the game.
Individually, junior Frantz Granjean (Brooklyn, NY) finished with 17 points two blocked shots and two steals off the bench to lead Old Westbury.
Patrick Bonna added 12 points, including two three-pointers and blocked two shots. Junior
Lester Prosper (Bellmore, NY) followed with 11 points and nine rebounds and
Jason Kondra had eight points, going 4-of-4 from the line.
Shane DeNully finished with seven points and four assists while freshman
Hilton Sneed (Spring Valley, NY) nabbed a pair of steals.
Shamir Williams led Maritime with a game-high 31 points, including 13-of-19 from the field and 3-of-6 from outside the arc. Andre Cooper and Giovanni Hurley finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Cooper, Justin Bright and Adedokun Olanrewaju dished out six assists apiece while Olanrewaju grabbed 13 boards and nabbed two steals.
Maritime limited Old Westbury to 38.3 percent shooting from the field, despite hitting 94.7 percent (18-of-19) from the foul line. The Privateers shot 46.7 percent, including 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from three-point range. Old Westbury collected 33 rebounds, six steals and five blocks with 16 turnovers. Maritime recorded 41 rebounds, six steals, two blocks and 21 turnovers.
