BROOKLYN, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team jumped back into non-conference play Thursday evening on the road and picked up a 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 24-26, 25-23) victory over the Brooklyn Bulldogs. The win improves OW to 7-4 overall while Brooklyn moves to 5-2 on the season.
A foursome of Panthers led the team in hitting with Tynishia George leading all hitters with 10 kills, tying a match-high with Brooklyn's Caitlin McMullen.
Ashley Greene followed with seven kills while
Tonya Miller and
Tanaya Vinson added six.
Kimberly Catania led all players in the match with a .500 hitting percentage, knockin down four kils with zero errors in eight total attacks.
As a team, the Panthers hit .150 with 36 kills and 20 errors in 107 total attacks. OW's best hitting came in the first set when they combined for a .263 hitting percentage with nine total kills and four errors in 19 total attacks.
Junior setter
Kristina Giordano captained the offense with a team-high 16 assists, while sporting six aces and three kills.
Kimberly Catania added eight assists while
Ashley Greene chipped in with three aces and
Nancy Apollonio had two.
Defensively, the Panthers were led by
Kimberly Catania and
Nancy Apollonio, who registered 11 digs each. OW also combined for two total blocks with

Ashley Greene,
Kristina Giordano and
Tanaya Vinson posting an assist.
Leading the Bulldogs was Caitlin McMullen, who finished with 10 kills, while Amanda Fiore led all players in the match with 26 assists. Brooklyn finished the match hitting .101 with 34 kills and 23 errors in 109 total attacks.
YORK, ST. JOSEPH'S-BROOKLYN UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury will take the court next on Saturday, September 25 for a tri-match in Jamaica, New York with the York Cardinals and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn Golden Bears. First serve against the Cardinals is slated for 11 a.m. followed by the Golden Bears at 1 p.m.
