RIVERDALE, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team won back-to-back games for the first time this season after downing Skyline Conference foe, Mount Saint Vincent 80-70, Thursday evening on the road at the Peter Jay Sharp Center. Old Westbury moved to 6-0 on the season and 5-5 against Skyline Conference opponents while Mount Saint Vincent fell to 12-4 on the year and 7-4 in Skyline action.

The Dolphins built a 12-point lead with 1:16 left in the first half when Cody Gauvard dropped in a layup to lift Mount Saint Vincent to a 36-24 advantage before the Old Westbury's Matthew Duffy connected on a three-pointer to close within nine (36-27) at the break.

In the second half, Old Westbury used a 22-13 run to tie it at 49 with 10:31 left. Frantz Granjean knocked down a pair of free-throws to cap an 11-5 run to give OW a six point lead (60-54) with 7:44 remaining on the second half clock. MSV responded with a 9-3 offensive spurt to knot the game at 63 before the Panthers responded with a 17-7 run to close out the game. The Panthers outscored the Dolphins 53-34 in the second half to surge past MSV for the 10-point victory to split the regular season series.

Jamal Little scored 20 points and nabbed three steals to lead Old Westbury. Matthew Duffy drained 5-of-8 from three-point territory to pour in a career-high 19 points after logging 40 minutes of court time in his first career start. Lester Prosper registered another monster double-double, combining 16 points and 23 boards (12th of the season) to go along with four blocked shots. Tymel Ambrose dished out nine assists (9.0 assists per game average over the last 5 games) and swept away two steals while Frantz Granjean contributed 14 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Geoge Naldjieff had a team-high 14 points and two sways to lead Mount saint Vincent as one of three Dolphins to score in double-figures. Shaquille Cunningham contributed 13 points and Cody Gauvard added 10 points while Mark Waite finished with eight points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Old Westbury finished the game shooting 49.1 percent (27-55), including 42.9 percent from three-point range (6-14) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (20-30). Mount Saint Vincent shot 44.8 percent (26-58), including 31.8 percent from three (7-22), but hit 11-of-21 from the charity stripe (52.4%). Old Westbury dominated the glass as it had a 44-27 advantage, including a 12-5 edge on the offensive end which led to an 9-5 discrepancy for the road team in second-chance points.

BARD RAPTORS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court on Saturday (Jan. 22), taking on the Bard Raptors in a Skyline Conference showdown in Old Westbury, New York. Game time is set to tip at 2 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.
