OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury Panthers softball team earned a Skyline Conference sweep over the visiting Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins at home in the inaugural NFCA Strikeout Cancer Day at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. OW notched a pair of no-hitters on the day to improve to 13-6 on the season and 8-2 against the conference, while the Dolphins slipped to 4-19 and 0-8, respectively. Panthers and Dolphins both sported pink socks in support of the inaugural NFCA Strikeout Cancer Day at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.
Old Westbury jumped on the board in the third inning when
Jennifer Jean cracked a double to center field, scoring
Alex Heaney for the games initial run.
Alyssa Clancy followed with a single through the right side to score Jean. OW scored four runs in the fourth on three hits and an error followed by two more tallies in the fifth to earn the run rule victory in game one.
Nicole Petrucci (2-4, 2 R, RBI),
Samantha Siegler (2-4, 3 RBI, ) and
Jennifer Jean (2-2, 2 RBI, R) paced the Panthers with multiple hits.
Alex Heaney and
Jessica Spero both scored two runs. Siegler doubled twice while Petrucci doubled and tripled in the game.
Alyssa Clancy (11-6) hurled her second career no-hitter after fanning eight Dolphins. Mount Saint Vincent's only runner to reach base was Ashley Winn in the third inning on a fielding error by OW's
Jessica Spero. Kelly Donlon took the loss for MSV, dropping to 3-4 on the season after surrendering six runs (three earned) on eight hits and four walks.
In the finale, Old Westbury planted 12 runs in the first frame to put the game away on seven hits and six errors.
Nicole Petrucci scored the eventual game-winner singling to lead off the game, stealing second, advancing to third on an error and scoring on a wild pitch.

Jennifer Jean (2-3, 4 RBI, 2 R),
Alyssa Clancy (2-3, 2 R) and
Jessica Spero (2-3, 2 RBI) provided the spark to OW's lineup, combining to go 8-for-11 at the plate with six runs scored and seven runs driven in.
Nicole Mannino and
Lauren Isaac also scored two runs in the finale.
Alyssa Clancy worked three innings of perfect magic in the circle, striking out three Dolphins to improve to 12-6 on the season. Clancy handed the reigns over to
Denise Zajonc in the fourth, who worked two innings to preserve the back-to-back no-hitters for OW. Kelly Donlon took MSV's loss after giving up 14 runs (four earned on nine hits and seven walks while striking out four.
