OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team picked up a 90-73 Skyline Conference victory on Saturday afternoon against the visiting NYU-Poly Fighting Blue Jays inside the Clark Athletic Center.  The win improves Old Westbury to 12-11 and 9-7 in conference action while NYU-Poly dropped to 2-19 and 2-14, respectively. 

Both teams played a close 9:15 to open the first half that featured four lead changes and four ties, until Old Westbury's Everard Bisnauth sank a three-pointer to give the Panthers the lead for good.  Bisnauth's triple sparked a 15-4 Old Westbury run from 10:24 to 5:58, giving his team a 31-20 lead.  NYU-Poly fought back with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit down to six points.  Old Westbury built their lead back up to 11 to take a 44-33 lead into the break. 

Old Westbury continued its trend of increasing their lead in the second-half as Rashawn McCarthy knocked down a pair of free-throws to give the Panthers a 68-48 advantage.  Old Westbury's lead ballooned to as many as 26 points, taking an 83-57 advantage off a 26-13 run from 13:24 to 5:41. 

Tevon McNair registered his ninth double-double of the season as he combined 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in 30 minutes of court time to lead Old Westbury to victory.  Kerel Mitchell poured in 16 points on 4-of-8 shooting from three-point territory while Everard Bisnauth (4-6 3FG) and Jamal Little both followed with 14 points.  Rashawn McCarthy added 11 points, six assists (tied career-high) and three steals.  Mitchell and Matthew Duffy both nabbed three steals each. 

Jethro Auguste and Brendon Henry lead the way for NYU-Poly with 21 points each.  Henry grabbed a team-best nine rebounds and Auguste had eight.  Thomas Fabian added 11 points and six rebounds while Alex Westphal tallied eight rebound and five assists.

NYU-Poly outshot Old Westbury from the field 46.9 percent (30-64) to 44.8 percent (30-67).  Old Westbury hit 14-of-32 from three-point land while NYU-Poly sank 3-of-20.  NYU-Poly enjoyed a 39-35 rebounding advantage, turning 15 offensive boards into 18 second chance points.  OW also converted 25 Fighting Blue Jay turnovers into 34 points.

ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference matchup on Wednesday (Feb. 15) when they host the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles for Senior Day in Old Westbury, New York.  Game time is set to tip at 7 p.m. from the Clark Athletic Center.  Prior to tip-off, seniors Jamal Little and Tevon McNair will be honored for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics.
