(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) –The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team hosted the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles on Wednesday evening for Senior Day at the Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury fell 102-81 to the visiting Golden Eagles to move their record to 12-12 on the season and 9-8 in conference play while St. Joseph's-L.I. improved to 20-3 and 16-1, respectively. 

St. Joseph's-L.I. got on the board first with a trey by Steve Velazquez.  Back-to-back triples from Kerel Mitchell and Jamal Little gave Old Westbury an early 6-5 lead.  St. Joseph's-L.I. responded with a 16-0 run from 18:41 to 13:27 to take a 21-6 lead.  St. Joseph's-L.I. closed out the half with a 32-19 run over the final 12:19 to take a 53-29 lead into the break.

After falling down by as much as 29 points, Old Westbury pulled within 13 points by going on a 25-16 run from 14:149 to 5:32 to make it an 84-71 game.  St. Joseph's-L.I. proved to be too much as they built their lead back up to 25 and finished with a 102-81 road victory.

Jamal Little and Kerel Mitchell led the way for Old Westbury by pouring in 20 points each.  Little finished the game shooting 8-of-12 from the floor while Mitchell hit 6-of-15 with five steals (tied career-high).  Tevon McNair followed with his 10 double-double of the season, combining 13 points and 13 rebounds.  Rashawn McCarthy added 11 points while Omari Trebuse chipped in with nine points on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown. 

Chris Jimenez scored a game-high 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting including 6-of-7 from three-point land to four other Golden Eagles in double-digit scoring.  Trey Black had 12 points, seven assists, six rebounds and rejected two shots while Olivier Laurent contributed 12 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.  

St. Joseph's-L.I. shot a blistering 62.7 percent (32-51) from the field and hit 14 of 23 three-point attempts (60.9%).  Old Westbury shot 40.3 percent (29-72) from the field and 8-of-25 from beyond the arc.  The Panthers scored 19 points off of turnovers, forcing 17 miscues.  St. Joseph's-L.I. won the boards battle, holding a 32-29 advantage off the glass.   

MARITIME PRIVATEERS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the hardwood for a Skyline Conference matchup on Saturday (Feb. 18) when they travel to take on the Maritime Privateers in Throggs Neck, New York.  Game time is set to tip at 2 p.m. from Riesenberg Gymnasium.
