OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team grabbed an early lead and never looked back against the visiting SUNYIT Wildcats, in a 10-0 non-conference victory on Sunday afternoon at home from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. Old Westbury improved to 12-3 on the season, winning their seventh straight game, while sending SUNYIT's record to 1-12.
Anthony Orsano broke the scoring ice early with an RBI single to score
Brian Reutter, giving Old Westbury 1-0 lead in the first. Three batters later,
Christopher DeGennaro extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a run scoring single that drove in
Brian Walsh for a 2-0 lead. In the third frame, DeGennaro reached on an error by SUNYIT third baseman Devin Frye, which allowed Orsano to score for the three run lead. Old Westbury tacked on solo runs in the sixth and seventh and exploded for five more in the eighth to secure the victory.
Brian Reutter (2-3, R) and
Steve Mare (2-3, RBI, R) paced Old Westbury with multiple hits and three stolen bases each.
Anthony Orsano (1-3, RBI), score two runs while
Christopher DeGennaro (1-4, SB),
Jacob Coners (1-1, 2B, R) and
Alexander Abanavas (1-1, 2B) all drove in a pair of runs.
Paul Valerio extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the third inning. Michael Weingartne and
Blake Barbeito swept a pair of bases. Anthony Surber (1-4) and Joseph O'Rourke (1-3) collected SUNYIT's only hits.
Ryan Bresnahan remained perfect on the season, improving to 3-0 after striking out five Wildcats in three innings, while handing out three walks. Relievers

Stephen Chapter (K) combined for six innings of scoreless relief, striking out nine batters without surrendering a free pass. Michael Rose (0-2) took the loss for SUNYIT, serving up four runs (two earned) off nine hits and two walks while striking out two.
Old Westbury registered 12 hits compared to SUNYIT's two, including a 2-0 advantage in extra base hits and 13-2 in stolen bases.
MARY WASHINGTON EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: The Panthers return to the diamond for a non-conference showdown on Wednesday (Mar. 21) on the road against the Mary Washington Eagles from Dickinson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
