FARMINGDALE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon on the road with the Farmingdale State Rams, falling 6-3 in the opener and closing with a 9-0 blanking in the finale.  Old Westbury (17-7) improves to 6-2 in conference action while handing the Rams (14-9) their first conference defeat of the season, moving to 7-1. 

In the opener, Old Westbury scored first with a sacrifice fly by Christopher DeGennaro to score John Angelino for an early 1-0 advantage in the second inning.  Farmingdale State answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead.  Matthew Zsevc drove home Terrence Bohonan off a sacrifice fly, followed by Edward Bergmann's two run single.  Old Westbury tied the game at 3-all in the sixth, scoring Paul Valerio off an error by right fielder Bohonan, and Brian Reutter off Angelino's single.  Frank Scarlato put Farmingdale State in front for good with his two-run single in the sixth to make it a 5-3 game.  Bergmann singled in Anthony Alvino in the eighth to close out the scoring. 

John Angelino (2-3, RBI, R, SB) and Brian Reutter (2-4, R) paced Old Westbury's offense with multiple hits.  Christopher DeGennaro's 18-game hit streak came to a halt with a 0-for-3 game at the plate, driving in one run.  Terrence Bohonan (2-4, 2 R), Anthony Alvino (2-3, 3 R) and Frank Scarlato (2-4, 2 RBI) registered multiple hits to lead Farmingdale State.

Tim Walsh (3-3) struck out three and took the loss for Old Westbury, allowing five runs (three earned) off nine hits and one walk over six innings of work.  Chris Phelan (3-1) went the distance to earn Farmingdale State's victory, striking out seven while surrendering three runs (one earned) off six hits and two walks. 
Farmingdale State held the advantage in hits (11-6), extra base hits (2-0) and stolen bases (3-2).  Old Westbury committed three errors as Farmingdale State tallied two.  On the mound, Old Westbury registered five strikeouts and two walks, compared to the Rams' seven strikeouts and two walks. 

In the finale, Anthony Orasno singled to center field in the first inning to drive home Paul Valerio for what proved to be the game-winning run.  Two innings later, Old Westbury's lead blossomed to nine runs as the Panthers scored eight runs off six hits and one error.  Orsano clubbed a double that scored Reutter to kick off the scoring in the third.  Two batters later, Christopher DeGenarro slapped a double to left, scoring Orsano and Brian Walsh, followed by Tyler Hammett's single that scored DeGennaro.  After Hammett stole second and third, Steve Mare scored him off a single.  Three batters later, Brian Reutter singled home Mare and Orsano followed with a run scoring single to score Reutter to close out the scoring. 

Anthony Orsano sparked Old Westbury with his third 3-hit game of the season, finishing 3-for-4 (2B, R, SB) with 3 RBI.  Christopher DeGennaro (2-4, 2 RBI, R) and Steve Mare (2-3, RBI, R) followed with multiple hits while Paul Valerio and Brian Reutter both scored two runs.  Valerio and Tyler Hammett led Old Westbury on the base path, stealing two bases apiece.  Terrence Bohonan's 2-for-3 performance at the plate anchored Farmingdale State in the finale.

Chris Sanabria (2-0) won his second straight decision, striking out a season-best six batters without dealing a walk, scattering seven hits to notch his fourth career complete game.  C.J. Bula (3-2) was dealt Farmingdale State's loss, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four in just two innings. 

Old Westbury outhit the Rams, 10-7, including 2-0 in extra base hits while holding an 8-0 advantage in stolen bases.  David Zilnicki committed the lone error of the game for Farmingdale State.  Old Westbury registered six strikeouts with zero walks compared to eight strikeouts and three walks for Farmingdale State.
