OLD WESTBURY, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team fell in three sets to St. Joseph's-L.I. on Wednesday evening in a Skyline Conference opener at home, 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-15).  The loss moves Old Westbury to 3-10 on the season and 0-1 in conference play while St. Joseph's-L.I. improved to 6-3 and 2-1, respectively.
Allie Giancola sparked Old Westbury's defense with 20 digs and 
Jocelyn Small tallied two solo blocks.  
Mudeline Derisma nailed down a team-high three kills followed by Small's two.  
Kimberly Catania posted a team-high five assists and two aces.  Julianne Tierney (28 assists), Heather Ferchland (7 kills), Melissa Garbaldi (7 kills, 5 aces) and Ashley Larrea (22 digs) tallied match-highs for St. Joseph's-L.I. 
St. Joseph's-L.I. outhit Old Westbury, .160 to -.127, tallying 28 kills to Old Westbury's eight.  St. Joseph's-L.I. also served up 12 aces to Old Westbury's three.
PURCHASE, MARITIME UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a Skyline Conference road battle on Saturday, taking on the Purchase Panthers at 10 a.m. and the Maritime Privateers at 12 p.m. in Farmingdale, New York from the Walter A. Lynch Sports Center.
