FARMINGDALE, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team picked up a pair of Skyline Conference victories on Saturday in Farmingdale, New York, registering wins in three-sets over the Purchase Panthers (25-13, 25-15, 28-26) and Maritime Privateers (25-6, 25-9, 25-12). The wins improve Old Westbury (5-10) to 2-1 in conference play.
Against Purchase,
Jocelyn Small posted her third double-digit kill total of the season, nailing down 10 kills to pace the Panther offense.
Allie Giancola served up a career-best seven aces while
Rayn Brown followed with three.
Kimberly Catania dished out a match-high 17 assists and scooped up 15 digs to register her 10th double-double of the season. Giancola added a match-high 23 digs while Fareeda Roushy tallied three blocks. Old Westbury held a .218 to .035 hitting advantage, in addition to out serving Purchase, 14-4, in aces.
Small once against sparked Old Westbury's offense with 10 kills, followed by Rousdy and
Jennifer Jean, who each nailed down seven. Small hit .562 (10 K-1 E-16 TA) and Jean hit .417 (7 K-2 E-12 TA) to lead the squad.
Kimberly Catania distributed a match-high 27 assists while Jean and Giancola both served up three aces. Giancola led the defensive efforts with 27 digs. Old Westbury outhit Maritime, .382 to -.065, OW's best hitting percentage of the season. Old Westbury tallied 36 kills to Maritime's 10.
YORK CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the court for a non-conference road battle on Wednesday, taking on the York Cardinals at 7 p.m. in Jamaica, New York from the York College Gym.
