@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer Battles Purchase, Fall 3-0 in Skyline Conference Action

Panthers close out regular season Saturday with key conference match at St. Joseph’s-L.I.

PURCHASE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team was tested by the Purchase Panthers, falling 3-0 Thursday evening in what kicked-off a two-game road trip to close its regular season.  The setback in the "Battle of the SUNY Panthers" brought Old Westbury's (9-7-2) record to 4-3-1 in conference play while Purchase (8-6-2) improved to 5-2-1. 
Purchase got off to an early start, firing seven of the first nine shots of the match within the opening 20 minutes of play.  Purchase continued to attack in the 21st minute as Brad Kohel's free kick found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner.

Both teams played even the rest of the half as Purchase held a 10-5 shooting advantage to go along with their 1-0 lead entering halftime. 

Purchase continued to test Old Westbury in the second half, firing away with a shot by Enderson Mhilli, forcing keeper Marcelo Guardado to make the save in the 51st minute.  Then again in the 63rd minute, Purchase had Danny Moallem's shot blocked before doubling the advantage with a score just over two minutes later.  Enderson was credited with Moallem's four goal of the season. 

In the 81st minute, Eli Wilson-Berkowitz put the game out of reach with his fourth goal of the season for a 3-0 final. 

Purchase edged Old Westbury in shots (19-12), shots on goal (9-5) and corner kicks (6-4).  Adan Cruz-Velasquez's four shots led the way for Old Westbury, which included a pair of late post shots coming in the 83rd and 88th minutes.   

OW keeper Guardado grabbed six saves.  He allowed at least two goals for just the fourth time this season.  Esteban Aguilar made five saves to earn the complete game shutout for Purchase. 

ST. JOSEPH'S-L.I. GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action for a regular season Skyline Conference finale on Saturday (Oct. 26), when they visit the St. Joseph's-L.I. Golden Eagles. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m in Danzi Stadium.
