FARMINGDALE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team captured its first Skyline Conference win of the season with a 1-0 road victory against the Farmingdale State Rams Saturday afternoon from Rams Field.
Freshman
Adan Cruz-Velasquez scored the game-winner – the second of his career – in the 76th minute to lead Old Westbury (5-5-1, 1-1-1) to their fourth straight victory over the Rams. Head coach
Jamie San Filippo is now 3-0 all-time against Farmingdale State (5-6, 1-2).
Panther keeper
Marcelo Guardado was outstanding, making six saves to record his fourth career shutout. Guardado has not allowed a goal in two meetings against Farmingdale State, improving to 2-0 with 12 saves in 180 minutes. The Panthers won its first game of the season when being outshot by the opposition as the Rams owned a 20-8 advantage.

YORK CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury looks to build on the big conference victory when they host the York Cardinals on Monday (Oct. 7) in non-conference action from Panther Park at 4 p.m. The two teams last met on September 26, 2011, when Old Westbury earned a 2-1 (Box Score) victory at home.
