FARMINGDALE, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's soccer team captured its first Skyline Conference win of the season with a 1-0 road victory against the Farmingdale State Rams Saturday afternoon from Rams Field. 

Freshman Adan Cruz-Velasquez scored the game-winner – the second of his career – in the 76th minute to lead Old Westbury (5-5-1, 1-1-1) to their fourth straight victory over the Rams.  Head coach Jamie San Filippo is now 3-0 all-time against Farmingdale State (5-6, 1-2).

Panther keeper Marcelo Guardado was outstanding, making six saves to record his fourth career shutout.  Guardado has not allowed a goal in two meetings against Farmingdale State, improving to 2-0 with 12 saves in 180 minutes.  The Panthers won its first game of the season when being outshot by the opposition as the Rams owned a 20-8 advantage. 

The Rams were whistled five times for being offsides compared to just one for Old Westbury while each team totaled two corner kicks on the day.

YORK CARDINALS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury looks to build on the big conference victory when they host the York Cardinals on Monday (Oct. 7) in non-conference action from Panther Park at 4 p.m.  The two teams last met on September 26, 2011, when Old Westbury earned a 2-1 (Box Score)  victory at home.
