FARMINGDALE, NY (
www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team took on the Farmingdale State Rams in a Skyline Conference opener on Monday afternoon in Farmingdale, New York. Old Westbury was unable to record a victory and fell by a final score of 19-3. With the loss, Old Westbury moves to 0-3 on the season while Farmingdale State improved to 2-0.
The Rams got on the scoreboard early in the game as Christy Thoden scored 4:11 into the first-half to give Farmingdale State a 1-0 lead. The Panthers fought back and leveled the score at 1-1 off
Gabriella DiPierno's first goal of the season. After the goal, the Rams managed to score 11 more goals before the first-half horn to take a 12-1 lead into the second stanza.
After Thoden scored her third goal of the game three minutes into the second-half, Abigial Williams replied with her first career goal to stop a 12-0 Farmingdale State run with 23:04 left.
Jordan Schildt was credited with Old Westbury's first-ever assist on the play. Farmingdale State followed with six unanswered goals before
Courtney Gallagher rattled the back of the cage with 39 seconds remaining for Old Westbury's team-leading seventh score of the season.
Despite converting 100 percent of their shots, Old Westbury trailed the shot count, 34-3, as well as the ground ball battle, 16-8. The Panthers won 5-of-24 draw control.

Sara Braverman racked up 13 saves for Old Westbury and
Jordan Schildt picked up three ground balls
Kimberly Pepe, Nicole Marzocca and Christy Thoden paced Farmingdale State with three goals each while Thoden added eight assists.
MANHATTANVILLE VALIANTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Wednesday (March 13) for a non-conference clash with the visiting Manhattanville Valiants. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. in Old Westbury, New York.
