www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-4 decision Tuesday afternoon to the Ramapo Roadrunners in Skyline Conference road action. With the loss, Old Westbury (2-9) fell to 1-6 in conference action while Ramapo (1-8) improved to 1-4.
Ramapo scored the first six goals, including Lindsay Hughes' tally 18 seconds into play to break the scoring ice. Hughes scored four of Ramapo's first six goals before
Monika Santelli's second goal of the season put the Panthers on the scoreboard with 20:17 left in the first-half.
JoAnna Kettell netted her seven goal of the season with 9:12 left to make it a 9-2 game. After Hughes scored her fifth goal of the game,
Courtney Gallagher registered her 20th goal of the season with 5:48 showing on the first-half clock. Santelli closed out the first-half scoring with her third goal of the season as Ramapo took an 11-4 lead into the break. Ramapo held Old Westbury scoreless in the final half, holding an 8-0 second-half scoring edge.
Ramapo earned a 24-17 shot advantage and outmuscled the Panthers, 19-5, in draw controls.
Caitlin Thomas's two groundballs led Old Westbury while Amanda Ferry and Lindsay Hughes each picked up two for Ramapo. Hughes finished the game with eight goals and five assists to lead Ramapo.
Sara Braverman made Old Westbury's lone save on the day while
Cristina Kettell saw action in the cage over the final 14:25. Vier Reagan stopped eight shots to record Ramapo's victory.
WILKES COLONELS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Thursday (April 4) when they take on the Wilkes Colonels in non-conference action from Schmidt Stadium. The game will be played in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania with the opening draw control to commence at 6 p.m.
