OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) -The SUNY College at Old Westbury softball team split a Skyline Conference doubleheader with the visiting Mount Saint Mary Knights, winning the opener, but the Knights bounced back with a win in the finale to earn a split from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  The Panthers (10-12, 2-6) won the first game of the day, 3-2, before dropping the second game to the Knights (11-9, 4-2), 3-2.

Game One: Old Westbury 3, Mount Saint Mary 2
After a scoreless first inning from both Old Westbury and Mount Saint Mary, the Panthers jumped on the board in the bottom of the second.  With two outs, Jennifer Jean singled, stole second and then scored off Jessica Spero's single for the games initial run.

Mount Saint Mary answered in the top of the third on a run scoring single by Danielle Soto to knot the game at 1-1.

Old Westbury countered in the home half of the third with two runs to go up for good.  Again, with two outs, Old Westbury produced.  Jacqui Alvarado roped a double to right center that drove in Nicole Petrucci and Corrine Protasiewicz for a 3-1 lead.

Mount Saint Mary sliced the deficit to one run in the fifth on back-to-back fielding errors that allowed Soto to score the Knights' second unearned run of the game.
Alyssa Clancy (10-10) snagged the win after fanning 10 batters and was charged with two unearned runs on six hits and one walk as she recorded her 17th complete game of the season.  Caitlin Maynes (6-4) surrendered all three runs on five hits in defeat.

Jacqui Alvarado's (1-3, 2 RBI) two-run double was the lone extra base hit of the game while Nicole Petrucci and Jennifer Jean each swiped one base.  Ashley Schirripa collected two hits as the Knights outhit the Panthers, 6-5.  Old Westbury committed four errors compared to Mount Saint Mary's two.

Game Two: Mount Saint Mary 3, Old Westbury 2
In game two, Old Westbury posted a two spot in the second inning to score their only two runs of the game.   With one out, Alyssa Clancy belted her first home run of the season.  Jessica Spero, Jessica Colucci and Alex Heaney hit consecutive singles to load up the bases.  Spero then scored off a wild pitch to make it 2-0 before Petrucci lined into an inning ending double play, stranding three runners.

Mount Saint Mary replied with single runs in the third and fourth to knot the game at 2-2. Stephanie Karcher homered in the third and Victoria DeMarco singled in Chelsea Hepburn in the fourth to tie the game.

Mount Saint Mary pulled ahead in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to second base, which Ashley Schirripa tagged up to score the game-winner.

Nicole Petrucci (2-4) and Jessica Colucci (2-3) both produced multiple hits for Old Westbury while Mount Saint Mary's Ashley Schirripa hit 2-for-3 at the plate.

Alyssa Clancy (10-11) was saddled with Old Westbury's loss, giving up three runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight in a complete game effort.  Amandda Barrese (4-4) went the distance to earn Mount Saint Mary's win, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk.
