OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team played host to a Skyline Conference tri-match Saturday against the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons and Sage Gators from Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury (1-12, 1-3 Skyline) opened with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-18) victory over Sarah Lawrence for head coach Melinda DiGiovanna's first-career win.  Old Westbury then wrapped up the day with a three-set loss (25-10, 25-7, 25-6) to first-place Sage. 

Against Sarah Lawrence, Ruth Vargas dished out a career-high 13 assists to go along with 10 kills to register her first-career double-double.  Vargas also hit .421 on 19 swings in addition to three aces (tied career high), six digs and three blocks.  Rayn Brown served up a match-high six aces to go along with a career-high 17 digs.  Fareeda Rousdhy followed with 10 kills and nine digs (career high) as Olivia O'Keefe contributed career-highs of eight kills and three aces. 

Xina Graham-Vannais's match-high 15 assists paced Sarah Lawrence while Lenie Siegel added five assists in defeat for the Gryphons. 

Old Westbury served up a season-best 14 aces and outhit Sarah Lawrence, .120 (34 K, 22 E, 100 TA) to -.051 (20 K, 25 E, 99 TA). 

Against Sage, Brown and Roushdy each chipped in with four kills as Vargas dished out eight assists.  Roushdy also scooped up seven digs for the Panthers.
Helen Putriment nailed down a match-high nine kills on 13 kills to hit .692 and four aces while Rachel Liebig captained Sage's offense with 24 assists. 

In the end, Sage outhit Old Westbury, .346 (27 K, 9 E, 52) to -.088 (11 K, 16 E, 57 TA).
