OLD WESTBURY, NY
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's basketball team captured a 70-62 Skyline Conference win Saturday in front of their home crowd on alumni day inside Clark Athletic Center.  The win improves Old Westbury (12-8) to 8-5 in conference play while sending Yeshiva (6-13) to 4-8.

Yeshiva missed its first six shots of the game as the Panthers took advantage to jump out to an early 8-0 lead just 4:31 into play.  A pair of made free throws by Mark Gjonlekaj made it a 10 point game at both the 13:31 and 10:26 minute marks.  Yeshiva answered with a 13-5 run from 9:49 to 3:47 to trim the deficit to 21-19 before the Panthers fired back with a 7-0 run with 1:29 to hold a 28-19 lead.  Old Westbury took a 30-25 lead into the half.

The Maccabees shot out of the second half gate with a 9-2 run over the opening 5:39, in which Yisrael Feld contributed seven of his own points to give Yeshiva its lone lead of the game, 34-32.  Omari Trebuse connected on back-to-back jumpers to spark a 13-5 Panther run from 6:08 to 3:08, propelling Old Westbury to its largest lead of the game, 11 (60-49).  Down the stretch, Yeshiva chipped away to pull within seven points, but Old Westbury converted 15-of-21 from the free throw line over the final 5:04 to earn the 70-62 victory.

Trebuse finished with a team-high 17 points (7-11 FG) to go along with five assists and two steals to lead the Panthers.  Floyd Leroy scored all but one of his 15 points (8-10 FT) in the second half while Ray Parker added 13.  Andrew Andries used 11 points and 13 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season in addition to swatting a game-high two blocked shots.  Jaquan Potter nabbed a career-high three steals.

Feld poured in a game-high 28 points while Shlomo Weissberg added 10 points and 12 rebounds to pace Yeshiva.

Old Westbury finished the game shooting 41.5 percent from the field (22-53), 14.3 percent from three point territory (2-14) and 72.7 percent from the free throw (24-33) while Yeshiva hit 45.6 percent from the floor (26-57), 40 percent from beyond the arc (6-15) and 36.4 percent from the charity stripe (4-11).   Yeshiva won the boards battle, 40-30, while Old Westbury scored 11 second chance points off 10 offensive rebounds.  Old Westbury logged 10 steals on the evening, reaching double-digit steals for the 10th time this season.
