OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury scored in three consecutive innings but were unable to overcome an early deficit as No. 8 Kean Cougars escaped Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex with a 6-4 victory Tuesday afternoon.  The loss moved Old Westbury to 14-19 on the season while the Cougars improved to 26-8.   

Kean jumped on the board first when a two-out fielding error by first baseman Kevin Licul in the first inning kept the inning alive, and two batters later, Joe O'Connor singled to score Ryan Kelley for an early 1-0 lead.  Two batters later, a two-run single by Ryan Reitmeyer put Kean up by three runs. 

Panther starter Braylin Perez settled down to toss back-to-back scoreless innings before Kean tacked on a single run in the fourth with two-out Matt Meleo single for a 4-0 advantage.

Old Westbury answered in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff Jonathan Pagan double and scored two batters later off John Angelino's RBI single to make it a three-run game. 

Kean built its lead back up to a four runs with a Sal Taormina two-out RBI single in the fifth.

Old Westbury cut the deficit to three runs in the fifth when a Nick Zucchero wild pitch scored Jacob Coners to make it a 5-2 game. 

Old Westbury kept the scoring going with a Michael Cardino RBI single in the sixth to score Angelino in the sixth.   Jesse Matos then scored Cardino two batters later off an RBI single. 

Kean went back up by two runs in the seventh with Taormina's sacrifice fly to score Kelly from third to close out the scoring books.

Pagan's (3-4, 2 2B, R, 2 SB) three-hit attack paced Old Westbury's offense while Tommy Ziegen's (2-4) two hits followed.  Pagan has now registered three consecutive multi-hit games, hitting 7-for-11 over that span. 

Perez (1-5) took Old Westbury's loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks in five innings of work.  Alex DiSanto registered three strikeouts in two innings of scoreless relief.

Kean was led by multi-hit games Andy Lopez (2-5, R) and O'Conner (2-2, 2B, 2 R, RBI). 

Zucchero (4-0) worked five innings to pick up Kean's win and Vinny Zanfordino scattered three hits in four innings of relief to record his fourth save of the season.

Kean held a 10-9 edge in hits while stranding seven runners on base as Old Westbury abandoned eight.
