OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's volleyball team suffered a tough defeat Monday evening in Old Westbury, New York, losing 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-8) to the visiting Brooklyn Bulldogs in non-conference action from Clark Athletic Center. 

Both teams battled back-and-forth in the early going before Old Westbury (0-7) used a 7-1 run to go up 13-8.  Brooklyn (5-8) answered back with a 17-8 run to take the opening set, 25-21.  Brooklyn improved from a -.152 attacking percentage in the opener to hit .240 in the second set for a 25-18 win.  Old Westbury fell in a 10-0 hole in the third set and were unable to recover as Brooklyn hit .421 to claim 25-of-33 points for the sweep.

Elizabeth Ozuna directed Old Westbury's offense with 10 assists to go along with career-highs of two aces and seven digs.  Rayn Brown added four kills, nine digs and one block while Ruth Vargas nailed down six kills and two blocks.

Jessica Yin captained Brooklyn's offense with 17 assists and nine aces while Vera Zhuk followed with six kills and four aces.   


STATEN ISLAND DOLPHINS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on September 29 against the Staten Island Dolphins in Old Westbury, New York.  First serve is slated for 6 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center.
