@OW_Panthers Men’s Soccer hammers Medgar Evers, 9-0

Old Westbury gains momentum heading into Wednesday’s regular-season finale at St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

BROOKLYN --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer scored four goals in the opening half against the Medgar Evers Cougars en route to a 9-0 road victory in a non-conference match on Monday afternoon from Aviator Field.

It is the program's largest margin of victory since an 11-0 decision against Sarah Lawrence on October 20, 2013.

Tana Weekes got the first of his career-best five assists on the day for Old Westbury (5-9-2) after finding Seaton Cole just 14 minutes into the match.  Cole's game-winner was his first-career goal.  Robert Amabile then found Dominick Guidice at the 29-minute mark to double Old Westbury's advantage.  Weekes assisted on goals by Jack Costanzo (42nd minute) and Ryan Finnin (44th minute) to send the Panthers into the half with a four-goal cushion.

Weekes assisted on both of Guidice's second-half scores in the 52nd and 71st minutes to register his second hat trick of the season.  Ronald Monge (65th minute), Finnin (74th minute) and Michael Thornhill (77th minute) combined to score Old Westbury's three other goals in the final 45 minutes.

Peter Sicardi (5-9-2) made two saves to secure his fifth shutout of the season (eighth of career).  Remorn Radway (0-2-0) made eight stops in defeat for Medgar Evers (2-13-1).

In the end, Old Westbury finished with the advantage in shots (37-3), shots on goal (17-2) and corner kicks (2-0).

ST. JOSEPH'S (L.I.) GOLDEN EAGLES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury closes out regular-seaon play in Wednesday's (Oct. 28) Skyline Conference road showdown against the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles at 7 p.m. from Danzi Field.
