@OW_Panthers Women's Lacrosse sets records, streaks past Sage, 20-8

Panthers set program single-season record for wins (five), and single-game shots (55) and draw controls (22) records against the Gators

TROY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse team saw four players score hat tricks, and scored the last seven goals of its Skyline Conference contest Friday night at Renwyck Field, as the Panthers (5-9, 3-4 Skyline) pushed past The Sage Colleges (2-11, 2-5 Skyline) by a 20-8 count.

For the visiting Panthers, the victory extended the third-year program's single-season victories record. Additionally, Old Westbury set single-game program marks with 55 shots and 22 draw controls on the evening.

Courtney Gallagher led all scorers with eight points (7 g, 1 a), controlled six draws and caused five turnovers in the midfield. Danielle Weir (game-highs of 4 a and 4 gb) added a hat trick for the Panthers, as did Sara Bey (game-high 7 dc) and Emily Powell (5 dc, 1 a).

Defensively for Old Westbury, Edania Martinez caused three turnovers, while Ashley Gugliuzzo (5-9) turned aside five Sage shots in the visitors' cage.

Gallagher completed her hat trick with five seconds left in the opening half to send Old Westbury into halftime with a 10-4 edge; Halle Johnson scored both of her goals in the stanza, as well.

Sage pulled to within a 13-8 count with 17:21 left on Monica Koralus's fourth goal of the season. From there, the Panthers scored the final seven goals of the contest to capture the conference triumph.
