Old Westbury seeded No. 7 at upcoming NCAA Division III New York Regional Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS---(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury baseball team (25-11) has been selected to play in the 2015 NCAA Division III New York Regional Tournament hosted by SUNY Cortland at Falcon Park in Auburn, New York. Old Westbury, seeded No. 7 in the eight-team double-elimination regional, will open play against the second-seeded Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets (31-10), on Wednesday (May 13) at 7:45 p.m.

In addition to Old Westbury, the other teams at Falcon Park include No. 1-seed SUNY Cortland Red Dragons (36-4), No. 3-seed Keystone College Giants (31-12), No. 4-seed SUNY Oswego Lakers (27-11), No. 5-seed Amherst College Lord Jeffs (36-13), No. 6-seed RPI Engineers (26-15) and No. 8-seed Oberlin College Yeomen (18-26). There will be four games on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, two on Saturday, and one if necessary contest on Sunday.

The winner advances to the NCAA Division III Championship in Appleton, Wisconsin from May 22-26/27.

Old Westbury earned its spot in the tournament by claiming the Skyline Conference's automatic berth after winning the conference championship tournament, May 3.

This is Old Westbury's fourth all-time appearance in the national tournament, and its first since 2001. The Panthers previously qualified in 1997, 2000 and 2001. Old Westbury has registered a 2-5 record in NCAA play all-time.
