NEW PALTZ, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) The SUNY Old Westbury men's soccer scored first but were unable to hold off the New Paltz Hawks in Saturday's 4-1 non-conference road final from Alumni Field.
Old Westbury (0-4-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute as Tana Weekes reached the back of the net to extend his goal-scoring streak to three games. Tucker Stern delivered the equalizer for New Paltz (4-0-0) in the 37th minute that would send a 1-1 game into intermission.
Jason Gonzalez scored in the 63rd minute to put New Paltz up for good. The Hawks then pulled away with goals in the 68th and 81st minutes to land a 4-1 victory.
Peter Sicardi (0-4-0) made four saves in net for Old Westbury while John Guzzo (4-0-0) recorded six.
Overall, New Paltz held the edge in shots (23-9), shots on goal (9-7) and corner kicks (12-0).BROOKLYN BULLDOGS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to home on Tuedsay (Sept. 15) to take on the Brooklyn Bulldogs (1-1-0) at 4 p.m. in a non-conference showdown from Panther Park.
