(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball claimed a 68-56 Skyline Conference home win over the St Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles on Wednesday evening inside Clark Athletic Center.  The victory was Old Westbury's (13-3) fourth straight to improve to 8-1 in conference play while sending the Golden Eagles (5-12) to 2-6. 

Jasmine Robinson and Crystal Barnes scored back-to-back baskets to put the Panthers ahead, 4-0.  Moments later, Rynese Smith connected on a three pointer to give the Golden Eagles their first lead of the game, 11-10.  Bridgid McNeil answered for the Panthers with a three-point play to spark a 16-2 run over the final 4:30 as Old Westbury took a 26-13 lead into the second quarter.

Tori Bellings' layup with 6:35 remaining in the opening half kick-started a 6-0 spurt to send the Panthers in front by a game-high 17 points (32-15).  Old Westbury settled for a 14-point lead (38-24) heading into intermission. 

The Golden Eagles made a third-quarter run to slice the deficit down to six (42-36) with 4:03 left in the stanza.  Old Westbury would outscore the visitors 9-4 over the final 3:41 to hold a 51-40 advantage at the end of the third. 

Old Westbury went up by as many as 15 points in the fourth period and maintained its double-digit lead over the final 10:02 to secure the win.

Robinson paced Old Westbury with 18 points (6-of-13 FG, 5-of-6 FT) and three steals.  Barnes used 14 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and two steals to register her eighth double-double of the season.  McNeill followed with 10 points and nine rebounds (tied career-high).  Raven Pentz added seven points, seven assists and two steals while Monique Joseph and Ruth Vargas each chipped in with three steals. 

Andrea Iavarone poured in a game-high 23 points to lead St. Joseph's.  Smith and Caroline Gehring each scored 12 points.

In the end, Old Westbury shot 33.8 percent (24-of-71 FG) from the field, 33.3 percent (3-of-9 3FG) from three-point range and a season-high 81 percent (17-of-21 FT) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, St. Joseph's landed 40.4 percent (21-of-52 FG) from the floor, 14.3 percent (2-of-14 3FG) from beyond the arc and 66.7 percent (12-of-18 FT) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 53-32, scoring 25 second-chance points off 25 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (16-9), points in the paint (38-26), points off turnovers (21-19), fast-break points (20-13) and bench scoring (15-4).
