OLD WESTBURY, NY ---
(www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball lost a heartbreaking 85-82 non-conference overtime thriller to The College at Brockport Golden Eagles Wednesday afternoon in their first home game since winning the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship.

Jamail Stanley got things going with layup four seconds in to give Old Westbury an early advantage.  Brockport answered with a 10-2 run from 19:29 to 15:15 to grab a 10-4 lead.  Preston Powell knocked down a pair of triples during Old Westbury's 11-3 run to take back a 26-24 lead before heading into the half tied at 26.

The Panthers opened the second half with an 8-0 run and later extended the lead to a game-high 13 points (67-54) off a pair of made free-throws by Stanley with 1:55 remaining.  Malick Sylla's three pointer with 1:49 left sparked a 16-3 run as Clifton Lyerly's jumper at the buzzer sent the game into overtime for Brockport.  Turnovers plagued the Panthers down the stretch as Old Westbury committed four miscues in the final 1:23.

Brockport scored 12 of the extra frame's opening 15 points to jump out to a nine-point lead (82-73) with 1:01 showing on the clock.  Old Westbury fought back with eight unanswered points to slice to deficit to one (82-81) with 34 seconds left.  The Golden Eagles made 2-of-3 from the free-throw line in the final seconds to secure the 85-82 win.

Stanley poured in a game-high 28 points (11-of-18 FG, 11-of-14 FT) to go with 12 rebounds, four steals and three blocks to register his second-straight double-double.  Eugene led all rebounders with a career-best 16 boards in addition setting career-highs in points (9) and steals (4).  Baker totaled career-highs of 13 points and four blocks while Terrin Roland followed with 12 points (8-of-10 FT) and five steals.

Lyerly led Brockport with 25 points (10-of-17 FG) as Devonn Gavin followed with 10.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 36.1 percent (22-of-61 FG) from the field, 25 percent (5-of-20 3FG) from three-point territory and 75 percent (33-of-44 FT) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, Brockport hit on 44.6 percent (29-of-65 FG) from the floor, 33.3 percent (4-of-12 3FG) from beyond the arc and 59 percent (23-of-39 FT) from the charity stripe.  The Panthers won the boards battle, 47-44, while the Golden Eagles scored 15 second-chance points off 16 offensive rebounds.
