OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball put the game away early in the first half to collect a 91-57 Skyline Conference victory Saturday afternoon against the visiting The Sage Colleges Gators (11-8, 7-3 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center.

Sage jumped out to an early 2- 1 lead before Stephon Odle's layup 2:12 in sparked a 7-0 run to give Old Westbury (11-7, 7-2 Skyline) an 8-2 advantage and the lead for good. Over the next couple of minutes, Sage used a 6-0 run to tie the game (8-8), and later sliced the lead to one (13-12) with 13:23 remaining. Old Westbury answered with a 16-0 spurt from 13:12 to 9:48 as Jamail Stanley's free-throw ignited the run from 13:12 to 9:48 to push the lead to 17 points (29-12). Sage responded with a 9-0 run to trim the deficit to eight points (29-21) with 7:48 showing on the first-half clock. Stanley later tipped-in two points to give Old Westbury a double-digit lead (33-23) for the final 25:40 of play. Old Westbury put together a 10-0 run to grow the lead to a first-half high of 20 points (48-28) before taking a 48-32 advantage into the break.

After Sage pulled within 14 (53-39) with 17:42 left in the second half, the Panthers scored nine of the game's next 12 points to go up by 20 for the remaining 15:16. With 5:31 remaining, the lead reached 31 (81-50) off Terrin Roland's 3-pointer while a triple by Brandon Thomson extended the advantage to a game-high 34 points (90-57) to settle the scoring with 1:20 left.

Stanley led the way with 33 points (13-of-18 FG, 1-of-1 3FG), 12 rebounds (six offensive), two blocks and two steals to register his 13th double-double of the season (26th career). Lylle Ryals followed with 15 points (3-of-6 3FG, 4-of-4 FT) as Preston Powell added 11 points (3-of-5 3FG) and two steals.

Jordan Devaughn paced Sage with 19 points while Marcus Patterson chipped in with 11.

In the end, Old Westbury connected on 50.8 percent (33-of-65) from the field, 55 percent (11-of-20) from 3-point range and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from the free-throw line. By comparison, Sage hit on 36.7 percent (22-of-60) from the floor, 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from beyond the arc and 26.9 percent (7-of-26) from the charity stripe. Old Westbury won the boards battle, 50-37, scoring 16 second-chance points off 13 offensive rebounds. The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (11-4), blocks (6-2) and assists (16-12) while scoring 23 points off 17 Gator turnovers.
