FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse opened Skyline Conference play Tuesday with a convincing 19-5 win over the Purchase College Panthers (1-2, 0-2 Skyline) in Farmingdale, New York. Old Westbury (1-5, 1-0 Skyline) earned its second-straight conference-opening win by defeating Purchase for the first time since 2013.

Sara Bey broke the scoring ice 1:01 in before Halle Johnson doubled Old Westbury's advantage 1:36 later for the 2-0 lead. After two Purchase goals, Old Westbury went back-to-back with scores from Natasha Treuman and Danielle Weir for the 4-2 advantage. Treuman and Rachel Phillips both scored to extend the lead to four goals before Kelly Turtell's goal with 10:09 remaining ended Old Westbury's 4-0 run to make it a 6-3 game. Imani Blake found the back of the net to spark Old Westbury's 4-0 spurt over the final 5:59 to take a 10-3 advantage into intermission.

Old Westbury opened the second half with a 5-0 run ignited by Bey's fourth goal of the game. Treuman capped the big run by scoring her third goal of the game with 16:19 remaining to make it a 15-3 game. Old Westbury outscored Purchase 4-1 over the final 9:27 as Bey scored her 17th goal of the season with 1:02 left to settle the 19-5 final.

Bey set a career high with 10 points on six goals and four assists in addition to registering four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Her four assists tied Old Westbury's single-game record. Treuman finished with four goals, two assists, three draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Weir set a career high with seven draw controls while contributing two goals, one assist and two ground balls to the win. Phillips added two goals and five ground balls as Johnson totaled two goals and two draw controls. Blake also racked up two draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Ashley Gugliuzzo (1-5) made two saves and allowed four goals in just under 53 minutes of work to secure Old Westbury's win.

Cynthia Plackis (1-2) surrendered 14 goals and made 14 stops in defeat for Purchase, who were led by Turtell's two goals.

WILKES UNIVERSITY COLONELS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to campus Thursday (Mar. 30) for a non-conference showdown at 3 p.m. against the Wilkes University Colonels (4-2) inside Panther Park.
