OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball recovered from a slow start to coast to a 91-39 Skyline Conference home win Friday morning against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (5-7, 3-6 Skyline) inside Clark Athletic Center.  With the win, the Panthers (9-1, 3-1 Skyline) remain unbeaten (7-0) versus the Maccabees since they returned to the Skyline in 2015-16.

It was a back and forth opening period with the Panthers jumping ahead 5-0 just 58 seconds in before trailing 16-15 at the end of 10 minutes of play.  Old Westbury shot 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from the field and 2-of-4 from deep to find their rhythm in the second quarter. The Panthers also came to play defensively by limiting the Maccabees to their lone field goal of the stanza (1-of-12 FG) with 8:31 remaining to slash Old Westbury's lead to two (21-19).  Soon after, the Panthers scored 14-unanswered points in a span of 1:17 (5:24-3:41) that featured Cassandra Chery scoring five-consecutive points to expand Old Westbury's lead to double-digits (30-20) with 4:55 showing on the clock. With 51 seconds left in the half, Old Westbury used a quick 5-0 spurt to take a comfortable 21-point cushion (44-23) into the break.
