@OW_Panthers Women's Basketball tops Mount Saint Vincent to push win streak to five in Saturday's regular-season finale

Old Westbury returns to the postseason as the No. 2 seed at home Thursday (Feb. 22) in the Skyline Conference Championship semifinals

RIVERDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's basketball closed out regular-season play Saturday afternoon with a 75-59 Skyline Conference road win versus the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins (11-11, 9-9 Skyline) from Peter Jay Sharp Center  in Riverdale, New York.  With the win, Old Westbury (21-3, 15-3 Skyline) has won six-straight matchups over the Dolphins dating back to the 2015-16 season.  The Panthers will play as the No. 2 seed in next week's Skyline Conference Championship at home next Thursday (Feb. 22) in semifinal-round action at 7 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday's No. 3 Farmingdale State College/No. 6 St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) matchup.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped ahead to an early 3-0 lead for its only advantage of the game before Monique Joseph dropped in back-to-back layups to put Old Westbury ahead for good with 7:31 remaining in the first quarter.  Joseph helped open a 10-point lead (16-6) by scoring 10 of Old Westbury's first 16 points.  The Dolphins put together a 12-4 run to make it a four-point game (21-18) late in the second quarter.  From there, Old Westbury scored seven-unanswered points to close out the final 2:09 to take a 29-18 lead into the break.

The Dolphins outscored Old Westbury 4-2 in the opening minute of second-half play before Charlotte Renker's free throw gave the Panthers a double-digit lead for the final 8:26 of play.  Renker's free throw ignited Old Westbury's 17-3 run to build a game-high 23-point lead (48-25) with 2:11 remaining in the third period.  Mount Saint Vincent's comeback attempt including a late charge to slice its deficit to 11 (70-59) with 43 seconds remaining.

Joseph scored a career-high 27 points (12-of-18 FG) to go with nine rebounds, eight steals and four assists.  Tori Bellings followed with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists while Renker contributed 14 points (6-of-8 FG) and nine rebounds.  Bridgid McNeill ripped down nine rebounds (six offensive).

Kelly Oliver led Mount Saint Vincent with 19 points, eight rebounds, and eight steals.  Kristen Merrell scored 15 points and Kelly Nola dished out a game-high six assists.     

In the end, Old Westbury hit on 46.9 percent (30-of-64) from the floor, 13.3 percent (2-of-15) from beyond the arc and 52 percent (13-of-25) from the charity stripe.  By comparison, Mount Saint Vincent connected on 31.7 percent (20-of-63) from the floor, 24.2 percent (8-of-33) from 3-point range and 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from the free-throw line.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 54-35, while scoring 13 second-chance points off 18 offensive rebounds.  Mount Saint Vincent scored 28 points off 28 Panther turnovers and held the edge in blocks (2-1), steals (17-13).  Old Westbury led the way in assists (16-13) and bench scoring (8-3).
