Old Westbury hosted its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer Day

Prior to opening pitch, Old Westbury celebrated its three-member 2018 Softball Senior Class consisting of Otilia Bernal (2015-18), Amanda Fucci (2015-18) and Jessica Tuckruskye (2018) for their dedication to Old Westbury Athletics.

Game 1 (5 Inn.): Old Westbury 9, Sarah Lawrence 1
Sarah Lawrence broke the scoring ice in the first inning with a Baylie Petit sacrifice hit to score Riley Vuyovich off Panther starter Lauren Bloom (W, 6-3: 4 H, R, K).

Old Westbury answered with nine unanswered runs starting with a sacrifice hit by Amanda Fucci off Gryphon starter Mikayla Cunningham (L, 7-6: 4.1 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 4 ER) that scored Bloom (1-for-3, 2 R) in the bottom of the first.

Jessica Schwartz (2-for-2, 3 RBI) doubled home Otilia Bernal (1-for-3, 2 R, RBI) in the second for what proved to be the game-winning run to put the Panthers up, 2-1.

Samantha Arcese (1-for-2, 3 RBI, R) broke the game open with a two-run double as part of Old Westbury's six-run fifth inning.  Bernal followed with a RBI single, and two batters later, Schwartz drove a two-run single up the middle to extend the lead to seven.  Jessica Livingston settled the 9-1 run-rule final with a sacrifice fly that scored Nicole Baron.

Fucci doubled in the third to collect her 100th-career hit while Amelia Cariddi added a 3-for-3 game with two runs scored.

Game 2: Old Westbury 4, Sarah Lawrence 0
After allowing three-straight singles, Baron (W, 5-6: 7 IP, 6 H, 8 K) worked her way out of a bases loaded jam in the second inning by firing back-to-back strikeouts to escape unscathed.

Old Westbury stranded runners in three of the first four innings before Cariddi (2-for-3, 2 RBI, R) broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning with a two-run double that scored Livingston  for the game-winning run off Gryphon starter Delaney Parker (L, 7-3: 7 H, 4 R, 0 ER, 2 K). Sarah Lawrence then dropped two straight fly outs that allowed Cariddi and Fucci to score to secure the 4-0 final.
