@OW_Panthers Women’s Soccer set to return home Friday for Skyline opener

Old Westbury returns home Friday (Sept. 14) for its Skyline Conference opener against Yeshiva University

MADISON, NJ --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's soccer dropped a 5-0 decision Wednesday evening to the Drew University Rangers (4-1-1) in non-conference action from Ranger Stadium in Madison, New Jersey.   

Old Westbury (1-4-0) allowed three shots in the opening 4:06 before Drew sent one past Panther goalie Alexa Higgins (1-4-0) at 4:25 with Sarah Racine finishing a Leah Dentale run for the game-winning goal.  Alex Gilgorri doubled the Rangers' advantage 3:54 later to make it a 2-0 game.  Mary Laut scored in the 28th minute to send a 3-0 game into intermission.  

Drew grew its lead to four in the 51st minute as Racine buried her fourth goal of the season prior to Ela Christensen's goal at 66:43 settled the 5-0 final.   

Higgins turned away 12 shots in defeat for Old Westbury as Madison Dudziec (4-1-1) and Brielle Castanheira combined to register the clean sheet.  

Old Westbury allowed a season-high 45 shots and 19 corner kicks as Drew dominated play in shots (45-0), shots on goal (17-0) and corner kicks (19-0).  The Panthers were held without a shot for the second time this season. 

YESHIVA UNIVERSITY MACCABEES UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns home for its Skyline Conference opener Friday (Sept. 14) against the Yeshiva University Maccabees (0-3-0) at 11 a.m. from Panther Park.  The Panthers are 7-3-0 all-time in their Skyline openers, including 2-0-0 when starting the league slate at home.
