ROCKVILLE CENTER, N.Y. --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) For the second-straight year, members of the SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse program volunteered their time at the Center for Science Teaching & Learning's (CSTL) Spooky Fest on October 25 at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Center, New York.

The 16-acre Tanglewood Preserve was transformed into a family friendly, Halloween event.  Wooded paths, exhibits, and festivities on the preserve were featured, with eerie lighting, special effects, and characters along the way.

Old Westbury head women's lacrosse coach Lauren Schneider, along with student-athletes Tazmeya Allen, Ryan BurmannYaritza Caraballo, Gia Feleppa, Kelsey Maldonado, Sara Russo and Tandra Young, all participated in the event by volunteering as either face painters or assisting with traffic in the Maze of Zombies.

Schneider stated, "it's a great way for the team to get involved in the community and spend time with children and their families. We had a great time spending time crafting and engaging with them to get into the Halloween spirit!"

Serving students, businesses and non-profits to help make STEM Education incredible, the CSTL is situated within Tanglewood Preserve—a nature preserve in Rockville Centre.  The mission of the CSTL is simple: to encourage science learning and literacy in everyone, children as well as adults. CSTL is a 501(C3) nonprofit organization that is operated by a passionate, intelligent, and highly qualified staff that includes scientists, certified teachers, former school administrators, and skilled artists and craftsman. These professionals are dedicated to incorporating each of the three basic core sciences—Life science, Physical science, and Earth science —into an experience in a way that engages people, making learning a real adventure.
