Old Westbury remains on the road Saturday (Mar. 2) with a non-conference matchup against Bard College

DANBURY, CT --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury women's lacrosse opened the season Wednesday afternoon in Danbury, Connecticut with a 18-2 non-conference setback against the Western Connecticut State University Colonials (1-0) from Western Athletic Complex.  The Panthers (0-1) move to 2-5 all-time in season openers.

Lauren Bradshaw beat Panther goalie Tazmeya Allen (0-1) 1:09 in to break the scoring ice for the Colonials.  Trailing 2-0, Natasha Treuman put Old Westbury on the board at the 26:08 mark.  Western Connecticut proceeded to score 10-unanswered goals over the final 25:03 with first-half hat tricks by Brooke Baldelli and Caroline Galligan to send the Colonials into intermission with an 11-1 lead.

Treuman opened the second-half scoring with a goal 1:56 in to pass Sara Bey (2014-17) as the program's all-time points leader (182) in her 49th-career game.  She is also the program's all-time leader in goals (158), free-position goals (60) and woman-up goals (8).

The Colonials went back up by double-digits (12-2) one minute later with Bradshaw's third tally of the game.  Western Connecticut tacked on six more goals over the next 25:48 to settle the 18-2 final.

Allen made nine saves in defeat for Old Westbury while Jennifer Sawicki (1-0) stopped three shots to secure the Colonial win.

Western Connecticut State finished with the advantage in shots (34-10), shots on goal (27-6), assists (11-0), ground balls (17-7), draw controls (14-8) and caused turnovers (18-9).
