FARMINGDALE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) No. 3 SUNY Old Westbury baseball earned a convincing 7-0 win Friday evening over the fourth-seeded Maritime College Privateers (22-18) in game 5 of the Skyline Conference Championship double-elimination round from Rams Field in Farmingdale, New York.  The Panthers (22-15-1) improve to a 21-9 mark against the Privateers dating back to the 2006 season.  With the win, Old Westbury will play in Saturday's (May 4) game 7 against the loser of game 6 between the second-seeded United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (28-9) and the top-seeded Farmingdale State College Rams (30-7) at 3 p.m.

In the second inning, Old Westbury capitalized off of back-to-back throwing miscues coming at the hands of third baseman Antonio Diaz and second baseman Joe Scerra for Joshua Cruz to sit 90 feet away from home plate.  Cruz then scored the game-winning run off a Michael Borsch (1-for-3, R, RBI) sacrifice fly out.

Sean Paprocki (1-for-3, R, SB) kept the fourth inning alive by slapping a two-out single to right center on Mariner starter Travis Bruinsma (L, 4-2: 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K).  Paprocki then advanced to second with his team-leading 12th stolen base and later scored off of Brandon Wilson's (3-for-5, R, 2 RBI) single to double the advantage.

The Panthers tacked on a single run in the seventh inning as Peter Capel (1-for-5, RBI) single to plate home Mike Manetta and conclude Bruinsma's outing.

Old Westbury put the game out of reach in the eighth with four runs scored on relievers Matthew Paghidas (1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 K) and Nick Fortunato (0.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R).  The scoring frenzy was capped by John Condon's two-run triple to settle the 7-0 final.  Condon extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a third inning single.

Panther starter Patrick Quinn (W, 4-2) fired a career-best 10 strikeouts and scattered six hits en route to earning his first-career complete-game shutout.  Shaun Kaminski (2-for-5, 2B) pushed his hitting streak nine games with a single in the fifth frame.
